This is SUCh a hypothetical and weird though, but lets just say that its years into the future. In the present, the gay/ lesbian community has been growing larger and larger and being more accepted as actual people. there are still some people who aren't very 'cool' about having homosexualitry, but a lot of the younger generation is willing to accept it.

So now that everyone's accepting it, can you imagine a future where the majority of poeple were homosexual?? and how it would stigmate the world population?

just wondering. any thoughts?

sry, some users seemed to have misinterpreted my question, but when i say actual people, i mean people with recognition and political power, who are respected. what i nwas referring to is that many people who dislike gays believe them to be somewhat sickly, and don't give repect all their rights as a human being. Ugh! hard to explain, please just don't take it as though i'm trying to insult someone!!
Geez, evereyone gets so touchy whenever it comes to homosexuality!!

-i'm not homosexual, and i'm not some fanatical christian who hates homosexuals. and i didn't INTEND for it to be a stupid question, i thought it was resonable, and i pondered for it for some time. please don't be so rude.

I don't think homosexuality will ever become a majority. I do believe that it is nature's way of preventing over population.

The percent of homosexuality in the population is not going up! So, your weird thought is just that; weird.

PS Honey, I do not care about homosexuality one way or the other. I do care about scientific procedures. Two seconds of research would have shown you that there is no " real " increase of homosexual population to discuss. It is probable a negative frequency dependent selection genotype. That means; as the frequency of the population of homosexual genotypes goes up, the fitness goes down ( fitness is reproductive/replicative fitness ) Possible, it is that simple and that complex.

it's not really the percentage of people who are homosexual that is going up, it's just the percentage of people who are willing to admit it, because people are getting less likely to hate them for it.

homosexuals will probably never be a majority because the natural state of the brain chemicals and hormones and everything else that creates the sex drive is to be more attracted to the opposite sex than to the same sex. that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with people who are attracted to the same sex instead, it's just that they are a minority.

probably if that ever happened, it would be far enough in the future and technology far enough along that scientists would insure the continuation of the world's population by artificial insemination and stored reproductive cells from humans.

being gay is not something you choose - it is just a part of who you are. they have recently been studying sheep etc, and discovered that about 8% of rams are gay, and a further 8% are sexually ambivalent. i imagine that these proportions might be somewhat similar to the proportions of humans who are gay. and as such, as this time it does not look to be expanding.

what is changing is that we are becoming more accepting of gay people within society, and so those who are gay are choosing to life the lifestyle they were born to, rather than hiding their true self away. and that is brilliant.

Since when has homosexuality been new? It's been around for thousands of years you know.

Just to be sure, you did say someone who is gay is not an actual person??!!??. Wow. Silly me, I thought the Nazi's were defeated over 60 years ago.

I'm going to go out on the edge here and guess you're Christian? Where's that love for your fellow man stuff now? And that's not a pun.

Wow.

In our society...in this time...heterosexuality is 'the norm'. The straight community assumes the superior role...tolerating, accepting or criticizing the gay community. However, if you look back in history, this was not always the case. Look into Greek and Roman history and discover that bisexuality was the norm, so to speak. There was no superiority where sexual origination was concerned.

Acceptance of all - regardless of their sexual orientation - will lead to a better world. Afterall, who are we to judge others? And if it is an individual's religious belief that homosexuality is wrong...who are they to judge? Didn't God tell us to "love thy neighbour"? They need to focus on their belief in God, and allow their creator to judge who they deem 'sick'.
