Cooper Union is extremely difficult to get into. As you probably know, tuition is basically free. The school is strongest in Architecture, and the Male/Female ratio is about 2/3 to 1/3.

The school only accepts 13% of applicants. Based on the old SAT test, the middle half of Verbal scores (among incoming freshman) is 510 - 760 and the middle half of Math scores is 510 - 780. Clearly, a very big range and you're qualified on that aspect.

Here's a quote from the Fiske Guide to Colleges..."Strong moral character is no longer a prequesite for admission, but an outstanding high school acadmic average most certainly is. Prospective applicants should note, however, that art and architecture students are picked primarily on the basis of a faculty evaluation of their creative works. For engineering students, admission is based on a formula that gives roughly equal weight to the high school record, SAT scores, and the SAT IIs in mathematics and physics or chemistry."

Schools considered (by the Fiske Guide) to "overlap" with Cooper Union include: NYU, Columbia, Cornell U, MIT and Carnegie-Mellon.

Hope this helps. Best of luck to you!
