I've tried selling and it's a lot of work. I feel guilty when I throw things in the garbage, but I feel worse when I try to give things away. I've given away a lot through www.freecycle.org but that can be a lot of effort and trouble as well. Charity shops are so picky about what they'll take and everything has to be just washed and freshly ironed and on hangers and not in boxes, and other items have to be just cleaned with certain cleaning products and in the orginal boxes and so on and I don't have the time or the willingness to bust a hump to give to a charity that should just be glad for what they get.
So... I tend to throw things in the garbage now, no matter how valuable it is. I still feel guilty but it's far less of a pain in the rear!

I usually put it in the trash. It's too much trouble selling.

Mostly give or toss. Selling seems too much like work.
