On the Xel-Ha website, they have a couple of options for tickets - one option is all-inclusive for $59US per person, and doesnt appear to include transportation to the park. The other option is called All inclusive Tour, and does include transportation (we are staying at the Paradisus Riviera in Puerto Morales, inbetween Cancun and Playa Del Carmen). So, is it better to go cheaper and just take a collectivo bus or a cab, or is it worth spending the extra for the Tour option (which is basically jsut a fancier bus driving us).

Go with the all inclusive option and take the bus early in the morning .If you take a cab and stay till 6 at night you got a big problem getting home because the cabs are gone by then. It's 20 dollars one way . The cabdrivers are not all saints . with the tour and all inclusive you are better off. There is much to do and see dont forget your snorkel gear.Start at the very back where they give you an innertube to go down the river.A whole day is barely enough for this place . bring one of those disposable underwater cameras its worth it they are cheaper at home where you live .Good luck , I wish i could join you.

Take the all inclusive package .most Hotels you can book all your tours on .They will pick you up and drop you off at the hotel . I go to the mayan riviera every year for the past 10 years now. You'll find most taxis when your a tourist try to rip you off. When I am with my sister as she speaks spanish she tells me not to talk ..the fare is cheaper ...with my hubby it goes up quite a bit as neiter of us speak it
