I have kind of dismissed these events that happened to me about a month ago because i couldn't find any information. But a few days ago i was watching a show where she said " Psychological Paralyzation is when the body can not move due to paranormal activity". This is basically what happened to me. I was sleeping one day and i woke up and after a while of being awake i suddenly couldn't move, then it felt like someone was holding my neck and i could barely move my own arms. My voice was mute and it only lasted a while until i forced myself to say a prayer. After that it stopped. It continued for about a few more weeks in rare occasions. Can anyone tell me any information on what might be happening? And it's also very strange because when it stops i immediately feel like it was surreal and i can't find myself to beleive it actually happened.

It could be a number of things.

1) a Lucid Dream state
2) a dream as the first poster said
3) a psychological trauma / short seizure lasting only a few seconds
4) a problem with your breathing / apnea that causes short blackouts / deleriums
5) well, you get the picture. . .

This usually happens to me when I sleep on my arm or have it over my head. I have had dreams where I was somewhere and there was a tornado and I suddenly felt a surge of electricity and pressure pushing me down. Maybe it was some sort of seizure too. I used to have these when I was younger and had supposedly been abducted by some supernatural force. The nice men in suits from the government said it never happened. What a relief someone is telling the truth huh? Who knows maybe you where an abductee at one time and sense them flying over to check on your progress for an UPLOAD. Maybe these are some type of seizure. If you have other health problems like gastrointestinal this could lead to toxins building up in your body also.

I've had this happen to me on several occasions and would like a solid answer myself. But to answer your question with my own experiences I was told two different things. I went to a psychic fair once and talked to a psychic about this and she told me that I was experiencing a kind of astral projection. The second explanation I got was by a group of people on a metaphysical message board. They all agreed that I was vulnerable to the spirit world and was being contacted but I am the kind of person who is scared of the supernatural and I tend to freak out and shut down. Anyway, those are the explanations I got and I hope Ive helped a little.

Sleep paralysis. It's common. You might be under more stress than you realize for sleep paralysis most often occurs during stressful times. It's part of your brain waking up, but not all of it. I suffered through it when I was married to a drug addict a long time ago. Very scary because it would be decades before I learned about what causes it.

The paranormal part occurs because most of your right brain (sensing, emotional part) is more awake than the left. Speech, a left brain function, seems to help bring a person out of it. When you prayed (even silently to yourself) you were forcing the left brain to waken more, hence, you woke completely.

Happened to me several years ago, I just moved. Never happened again. Oh yeah, as I was leaving, someone sarcastically said "Bye", there was no one around except us.
