This may be incidental, but a couple of days ago, I started having problems with my keyboard - I had to hit the 'b' and 'r' button 3 times to get them to type - just a glich I thought. But, tonight I get 16 items on my desktop all highlighted and none of my anti-virus or spy-bots are working, and my CPU cooler fan is going like it's woking really hard!!! Can anyone please direct me to a site with free diagnostics and fix??? Thanks for any help :-)

There is a good free online scanner by kaspersky at http://www.kaspersky.com or trend micro at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Also try uninstalling and reinstalling the antivirus and antispyware software.

To see if anything is using the processor press control-alt-delete and look at processes, you can do a google search for anything you think is suspicious.

Another thing to try would be hijackthis, just go to http://www.hijackthis.de there is a download link at the top and you paste the logfile of the scan into the box to analyse the results. You can then fix anything that needs fixed.

There are many different opinions about what the best antivirus is. Personally I strongly recommend the free version of Avira Antivirus, you can download it for free here http://j.mp/1mO6bzd I recommend this software because the latest version is much better then all the others and will give you a full protection of your pc from all virus or spyware.

you should try downloading a couple anti-spyware programs that are free. Go to Download.com & download "SUPERantispyware" Free edition. Also go to Lavasoft.de & click the download link there. Also try Neuber.com. They sell a security task manager. There's a free trial for 30 days, then you have to buy it, But it will work in case something's running * using your memory. You can use the tool to quarintine threats.

If you need virus software that can be installed, check out free.grisoft.com, to download avg free edition. It sounds like that option might not work, so go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com and you can get a free online scan, which should eliminate the virus. Good luck!
