Please confirm why you need to go back so far:

While the method of performing a system restore has been shown going back weeks can really mess up your system, in some cases render the system usless.

If you need to sort out a problem then I advise that system restore is NOT the best method. This also applies to retrieve documents. These can be found maually on your pc's hard drive.

I have been working with pc's for around 5 years so I would rather you emailed me with more information so that you can get decent help rather than make a mistake.

Presumably you have Windows XP Professional or XP Home edition? Go to HELP AND SUPPORT. On the righthand side you will see towards the bottom a line saying "restore". Clock on that and choose a date to which you want to restore. Remember that you will lose programs installed since then. Saved data files will not be deleted. A great tool for when you install programs you afterwards find out you do not like.

OK...i have the answer you wanted and something a bit more that might help.
You go on Start menu on windows xp
then All programes
Then Accessories
System tools
system restore

But before you restore your system make sure you make a restore point with your current setting,
so if it messed up too much you can always go back.
Good Luck!!
