Congratulations--you're a normal human being! Studies show that one of the greatest fears of humankind is speaking in front of an assembly.

Everyone gets it. What matters is how you respond to it. If you concentrate on how scared you are, you'll only get more scared. Work on breathing, rehearsing so you're confidant in your performance; realize that the audience really wants you to do well--they're supporting you.

If you practiced correctly on whatever you are going over like a song or a dialogue, then there should not be a reason why you should be so nervous. However, in case you are not sure, before your audition or play, look over your lines, and/or practice with a partner because it is always best to have someone guide you with dialogue. It gives you a visual aid of who you are talking to. If you are in a musical, then you should first of all read the text of the song, read the song in rhythm, but make sure you actually understand the song because the play director loves to see someone who understands the song than just singing the song. Speak the song in rhythm until you understand what beats are in what measure, and to know what your cues are. Last but not least, sing the song on "la" or syllables from Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, Ti, Do. Then add in the words and review the song by singing it for over an hour. There is nothing you should be afraid about, just as long as you are confident enough to tell them I know these lines, or I know this song. The only way you should have stage fright is if you did not practice enough with your music or lines. Good luck.

Usually when you are on stage you can not see all of the people because the lights are so bright, so it will be easier to face the stage then you think. I have been in many choir productions and shows and being nervous is one of the things that goes with it. But take the leap and do your best, trust me no one is going to go up to you and be like u suck, because they are proud that you got up there and did your performance.

Also you are only nervous about what really matters to you.

Nerves are natual. Just practice and try to get confident. If it helps, practice in front of relatives or friends. Tehy can help you get more comfortable and help you figure out what parts make you nervous. I used to be scared, but I joined the Moose Youth Awareness PRogram and had to get over it because I was doing 2 - 5 presentations a week to betweeen 25 to 50 kids (my choice). It just takes practice. Like learnign to ride a bike.

It is very intimidating stepping out onto the stage with a full audience. My advice is to know your stuff...your lines, your blocking, your songs (if it's a musical) - and get so into your character that the audience isn't even a factor.

Thats ok, it's very normal. As you continue to act you most likely will get over it. In the meantime, practice your lines well so when you go onto the stage to say them, you know that you won't mess up, so you wont be as frightened.

stage fright, everyone has. the cure is you have to train, try to walk around the stage before performed. try to bring your friends along to see you reherse on stage.
