What are it's positives and negatives?

Positives: Cheap.
Negatives: Crappy.

Despite the name, Celeron D is not dual core. You can get an (also single core) AMD Sempron for the same price and it will perform better and run cooler.

Celerons won't be viable processors again until Intel releases the Conroe-L Celerons in the second half of this year. Conroe-L is the single core version of Core 2 with less cache.

No. Celeron is Intels bottom of the line CPU for the cheapest computers

You might as well just get the intel cure 2 duo now. Nearly same price.
