There was this animated show about 45 years go when I was very young, of a very smart rabbit (when he was thinking, his head was shown in some sort of mock X-ray, and we saw grears grinding away) and he had built a giant robot rocket shaped like a forearm, complete with the first, which was always around to save him from the nasty characters who wanted to harm him. I have searched high and low for ages trying to know more about what are now only sketchy rememberances. This evidently is aimed at people in their 50's, or real animation enthusiasts, as it seems info on this are few and hard to find. Does anyone know what I am talking about?

I remember that in one episode, the rocket arm had been damaged, and the rabbit (he wore thick glasses, evidently...), thinking with the spinning gears thing, took a whistle, blew in it and all the rivets and bolts snapped to attention, then another whistle shot, and the bolts moved along, army style, and reattached the panels of the arm which was then repaired.
For some odd reason, I cannot sake the impression this was part of the Beany and Cecil show, but any seach with "Clampett" and "rabbit" only points to reference of Clampett contribution to Bugs Bunney.

That brainy rabbit was named Harecules Hare, son of Ben Hare. The "rocket shaped like a fist" was the Guided Muscle, which Harecules invented to defeat his antagonists. You were right -- Harecules and the Muscle made their appearances on the animated Beany & Cecil show. See link below for a screenshot.

There were two cartoons featuring the brainy bunny and his creation: "Harecules Hare and the Golden Fleecing," with Willy the Wolf taking a pounding from the Guided Muscle, and "Hare Today, Gone Tomorrow," a retelling of the Tortoise and the Hare story.

Unforunately, these cartoons are currently unavailable on a commercial DVD. (There is a commercial volume of Beany & Cecil cartoons available, but it does not include either of the Harecules cartoons.) The cartoons _were_ available on commercial VHS tapes a while back. Good luck trying to track them down.

Doesn’t sound familiar, but try Toonopedia. They have thousands of entries on all sorts of animation going back to the earliest days. Try looking up all the entries that contain Rabbit or Bunny. Good Luck!

I loved that cartoon, as well as all of the others on the Beany and Cecil show. So much better than that weird Japanese and bathroom humor stuff on nowadays. Some of these cartoons are now on YouTube.
