[1 -1]

AB =

[ 1 -1] [1 -1]
[-1 1] [1 -1]

=
[0 0]
[0 0]

As you can see, neither A nor B are the zero matrix, yet multiplied together, they give you 0.

Did you possibly make an error when asking your question? That is, did you mean to say "A = 0 OR B = 0"? Your question just seems much easier being an AND than an OR (since, with real numbers, it works that if ab = 0, then a = 0 or b = 0).

No not true. A OR B can equal 0, and the one that doesn't equal 0 can be an number at all... Because 0 x anything = 0.

No. Only one of the variables has to equal zero. The other can be an infinite number
