hello, goldfish tend to change color as they become adults. dont worry hes just fine! Ive owned orange goldfish that have turned black. i have a panda oranda that's black but as he becomes an adult he may change to a orange color. so, take a deep breath, your little guy is going through a normal change into adult hood.

That happened to my goldfish. It'll be just fine. After a while my goldfish turned gold again. It's nothing to be worried about.

This is VERY alarming to me. Our skin when we get cut or skinned we eventually scab over. Well when goldfish are suffering from amonia poisoning its like a chemical burn. Their form of healing is the burned areas turn black. Even if you have an established cycle something could of happened to cause a bump. I would get your water tested asap! Black is not a steadfast color on goldfish, most black turns to orange or white. Goldfish actually becoming this color naturally is not normal. Do you have correct media in your filter? Did you put anything in your water that could of bumped your cycle? Did you wash your media in chlorinated water?

No worries!
Goldfish often change colors, its what they do, its what they live for...
My black and orange goldfish turned black, then white, and then back to his original color.
It could be due to a number of reasons. Age and change in environment are the main reasons.

I used to feed gold fish to my oscar, my girlfriend really liked this black and gold one so I let her keep it. It slowly started to turn gold, she asked the man at the pet store and he said it was an infection caused by living in such close quarters with all the other fish. He is now completely gold.

its probably nothing.. i had a gold fish that was spotted black and gold when i got it and it eventually got more and more gold an less black.. its just a skin coloring. maintain the tank temperature and dont change the eatting habits. Check all the chemicals in the tank (just to be sure) but there is probably NOTHING WRONG with your fish!

This is a side effect of an environmental change. It is not a sickness. It is often a sign of a better condition like after several good waterchanges. It seldom happens in bad water conditions. So you have nothing to worry about.
