Yes, I can answer that. I'm not a doctor, just an intern. 155 to 200 heartbeats a minute for a baby, used to have been thought to have meant twins. The fact that there 2 babies inside, doctors would often misscalculate the beats... more over they would take one of the infants heartbeats and use it to "calibrate the beats. 60 or 70 % of the time it was a boy... so the legend goes. 155 HBPM might indicate some sort of hypertention or stress on your part. I'd go in to a cardio... if I were you... just to get looked at. There is no known way to determine sex of a baby by cardio- rythem.

A babys heartbeat above 140 is considered to be a girl and below is a boy. It is not 100% accurate but it was accurate with both of my pregnancies and other people that I know. I think its pretty accurate in determining whether baby will be boy or girl. Keep us posted to let us know if it is indeed a girl.Good Luck!

the heartbeat of my little one is 158, and an ultrasound has determined that it's a girl.
The old wives tale is that if it's below 140 it's a boy if it's above 140 then it's a girl... haha not always the case however ;)

lol-that is an old wives tale, you cant tell gender from a heartbeat, or from swinging a ring over your belly, or from if you're carrying low or high etc etc.
you just have to wait until your 20 week 'big' ultrasound.
sorry :(

I really don't think that the rate of the heart beat is going to give you a clue of what sex the baby is. I know it's exciting and you can barely wait, but wait for your US.

there's really no way to tell the gender just from how fast the heartbeat is.. sorry.. good luck with your pregnancy though.
