I think the government of Iraq was concerned that waiting would cause more problems; so they had a dilemma, and made their choice.
As far as I know, only a minority of Muslims are upset by this; anyway, it wasn't my call.

It's a pity that Saddam's life ended in that manner. Yes, he was a a dictator and for many years, the Iraqis lived in constant fears. Saddam was no angel but I personally think that the way the punishment was carried out was in no way in line with basic human rights.

The fact that his life ended during Eid showed that the punishment was carried out without mercy. I by no means supported what he did but certainly, his death will not even make things better for the Iraqis.

What's worse is that violence and killings have increased after his death and there is greater hatred among the Shias and the Sunnis. I for one think that despite America's claim that they did not have anything to do with the sentencing, somehow or rather, the sentencing did bear some political agenda. The Iraqis will continually live in sufferings and fear as long as they are not able to rule themselves, this means that having their own democratic government and military. The sooner Bush gets his troops out of Iraq and let Iraq deal with its own problems, the faster will democratic processes and systems take place in Iraq. And this will eventually lead to a peaceful Iraq. Let's hope that thing will get better for them.

"May he rest in peace" now lets get on with our lives.
As for the timing, Capital Punishment is only practced by a few barbaric countries. It should be abolished totally.

However as he could have proved very embarressing to the US & UK governments , it was important to have the "Puppet gov't" rush it through. In any other country, the fiasco of that trial would have been decleared a mistrial. He should have been tried by "The International Court for Crimes against Humanity" but he would have had a chance to speak out and that would upset to many in Washington.

I cannot agree with you MORE. It shouldn't be on the holy day of Muslims. But this is, of course, not a coincidence. I do believe that the date of execution was planned days before, and the target was to show all Muslims who is boss. And it worked well.
An important Muslim leader, no matter whether he is dictator or killer of hundreds people, shouldn't be executed on such an holy day for Muslim world.
Related with this execution, the western world keeps working for its self-benefits. For example, Merkel, prime minister of Germany where execution is strictly banned, stated that they respected to the court's verdict. But there are examples bringing contradictory actions of the west to light, for instance, killer of 30.000 soldiers and responsible for thousands of ghazis, Apdullah Ocalan, founder of PKK, which is a terrorist group Turkey has been struggling and suffering a lot for nearly 30 years, was sentenced to execution in the first trial; but immediate rejections came from the west countries like Germany, England stating that execution was an primitive practice.
Finally, as I have said above, we all as inhabitants of this world must be respectful to our cultural, social and religious values; And we should see this diversity as a richment that the civizilations have produced to this day, if we want to live in a peaceful world.
Thank you for this question.

If you believe in the death penalty at least do it professionally.
His execution was botched. It is sick that people were shopping around trying to find out where they could get film of it and in fact he showed strength in answering his taunter and if he was executed on a Muslim holiday then being Muslims they should have known better.

I like the flower in ur hair.

Listen, saddam was threat to his own ppl... thats the reason there is no change in the world. a person like bush can make a drastic change in the world if something happens to him... cuz he is threat to all.

This is a political equation.
