I can't believe i have 13 more years until i can date. I am 13 years old right now. My mom thinks that dating is off-limits for people under 26. Even to my friends, that seems RIDICULOUS!!! Mom's philosophy is that i'll be 26 when i finish my doctors degree. She thinks that if i start getting into boys/men too early, my education will be messed up and i will start to divert my focus of life (bs!!!). I know i have enough self control to juggle my education and the boys. maybe not right now, but certainly when i'm 15 or 16. 17? Well what do you think? Do you think i should try to convince my mom to let me date earlier? Or do you think she is right about her no-dating-until-26 rule?

well.... i'm not sure she has a point sort of like i'm 17 and i've been dating sense i was 13 and for awhile girls were all i thought about not so much of school so I don't know wait till your older 15 or 16 seems like a good age then ask her tell her it won't distract you from school maybe go on a date once a week like a friday that way you'll have saturday or sunday to do your homework and study

I don't think that when you get to be 18 ish or so it won't matter anymore. Hopefully you will be independent enough to make your own choices and have a level enough head to keep it all under control. Your mom is right about not letting dating get in the way of your future.

wait until you are 18. You are an adult then. But for mom I think the only reason why she said 26, is so that you dont get distracted. Boys can become a very be distraction.

Most likely you will date when you are a little older. But you really should finish school listen to your mom.. you won't regret it if you listen to her trust me! You don't want to be 18 / 19 years old with a baby and no career :)

26 does seem a bit late. So yes, you should try to convince my mom to let you date earlier, say when you turn 18 or something. Good luck!

WOW your mom is doing more harm than good. shes trying to protect you but that will end up making you rebel more. and DUHHHHHHH when you are 18 she cant say sh*t.

you can do what ever you want at 18 so you really have 5 more years.

and you shouldnt be worried about your mom wanting you to be a doctor at 13?!!!

only 3% of people who say they want to become a doctor....actually become one!

p.s. ask her when her first BF was (i doubt it was 26). if she says 26 then she is either a** ugly, retarted, or gay

your Mom wont be "letting" you do anything at 26, you'll be letting her. Just make sure you move out when you grow up. My uncle didn't and he's still taking directions from his parents and he's almost 50! LOL
