Not much or nothing at all. The parade toward succession did not happen overnight, but began when the issue of slavery was not dealt with at the Constitutional Convention of 1787. I did not say slavery was the only issue; I said it was the BEGINNING ISSUE. (sigh)

okay i'm so sick and tired of peeps saying that slavery was the only issue the south had with the north. it was one on the reassons but not the soul reason like many of u think. one of the main issues bunchanan could have done was lift the tarrifs on the south's cotton and let the sates tax them insted
