Some women searching for a man in prison?

A friend of mine works in a prison as a Caseworker. He told me a few inmates said to him that they have magazines that has the ads about penpals and meeting women. Many of the inmates send money so they can be posted on websites in order to meet women. My friend told me you will be surprised the responses these inmates receive from women in society. The inmates brags about the woman sending money to them and some women will marry the inmates. My friend says he knows it's true because the inmates will show him pictures of the woman and he has even seen these inmates get money on their accounts from women from the penpal. What I am getting at is, the inmates are saying the women are fed up with men in society. BUT those same women are willing to get involved with someone whose in prison for murder, robbery, rape etc. The sad thing about it, my friend said the inmates told him that they are only using these women for money and to chat with. What is going on?

I think our culture tells women that they are worthless unless they have a man. Also, lots of people are just scared to death of ending up alone in life. We have also perpetuated the "bad boy" stereotype as being sexually desireable.

I don't think this even skims the surface, there are self-esteem issues, curiosity, who the heck knows? Great question.

There are numerous prison pen pal sites on the web. There are always warnings about what you have said about "being taken". I have had a male prison pen pal for 12 years... and I am male. They aren't all conning pen pals... To answer your question: I think that a lot of women due to "bad experiences with guys" look at the pen pal route as a "safer" way to go due to their being incarcerated. Some of these women I am sure because of their female make-up may want to "redeem"... "change".... or "win" these guys. (lost souls?) Others may do so because of lonliness, particularly if they are a bit older. It is not always as easy for a woman to "meet a guy" as it is for a guy to meet a woman.

There is a lot of lonely people in the world. In prison and out of prison. There are a lot of rich lonely ladies in the world. To have a little male attention, they are willing to pay for it. There are a lot of lonely, unattached men who want sex and are willing to take a female off the street and pay her for sex. Why can't the lonely rich females do the same. That does not mean I approve of either, but it happens.
