I've worn contact lenses for almost 35 years, starting back when all that was available were glass ones.

I'm really thankful for the soft contacts now, they're so much more comfortable. Here's how I put mine in. I start with my right eye.
1. My hands are very clean. No soap residue.
2. I squirt a bit of soft contact solution in the palm of my left hand and fish out the lens from the case.
3. VERY gently, I rub the lens 2 or 3 times then pick it up with my pinkie finger, hold it to the light to see if it's right side out.
4. If the lens edges look curled under, it's inside out and will cause me to cry, or tear up. Put the lens back into your left palm with a few more drops of solution and turn it right side out.
5. Look straight ahead into the mirror, not down or up.
6. Pull down your lower eyelid, and tap the lens onto your cornea, holding it there until it seals into position on your eye.
7. Slowly blink until the lens is comfortable and you're sure it's seated.
8. Repeat with the left lens.

Oh, if you still have a lot of problems, it probably isn't the solution you're using, if it was recommended by the eye doctor. They're mostly all the same anyway. However, you may need a different brand of lens. Some lenses are wider, some have a different curvature, some are thinner.

Good luck!

The first few days are rough, but eventually you get used to it and can do it gently. If you're not already, use a light and mirror on a table, and take your time. Also, use the pad of your finger not the tip, and make sure you're not putting them in backward (it really does make a difference).

Practice...a lot and make sure your hands are always clean!

Also, try putting a hand-held mirror into your lap and looking DOWN into it when you put your contacts in...this helped me get used to the whole ordeal when I first started wearing them.

Good Luck!

It takes time..when i first got contacts, it took me almost 20 minutes to put in one contact...now i can put both in under a minute....you need to practice. this guy on youtube shows how to put in contact lenses. Don't be afraid. It's really not hard at all.

It sounds like your solution is too strong. You can ask your eye doctor for solutions that don't sting much or possibly search for some online. The same happened with me. I use Aquify now and it doesn't sting and my eyes feel fine.

If you're new to contacts, your eyes probably aren't used to being touched so much. Give it a little time. They'll get used to it. Mine did.

Good luck! : )
