You didn't say how old. But if under 3 months: Put your baby on this routine: When he wakes up feed him. Let him stay awake for a short time and then put him to sleep. Keep this routine of eat, wake, sleep. Keep about 21/2 to 31/2 hours between feedings if possible. Don't try to keep him awake too long. Over-stimulated babies DON'T sleep well. Short naps are almost always a result of overstimulated babies (the younger the baby, the more often this is true)

How old is your baby? If he/she is a newborn then it's normal for then to sleep in erratic schedules. By about 2-3 months your baby should know that night time is sleep time, and daytime is for quicker naps. That doesn't mean that there might not be times when you'll have rough nights!! By about 6 months your baby should sleep through the night.
A lot of people have trouble with sleep... good luck!!

Do whatever you can to keep your baby awake during the nap, aside from a couple of naps. That should help. If your baby is very young, it may just be a hungry thing. Sometimes, my daughter would be up every hour on the hour to eat. Just do whatever it takes, within reason, to get your baby on a schedule, and it will go a long way to helping him/her sleep better at night.

If your baby is less than 3 months old, try to feed him more milk. Don't worry about overfeeding, he will stop drinking when he's full. Dim the light and try to keep the room quiet. Co-sleeping also work as newborn babies usually like to feel close to someone. Check the bed and make sure the blanket keep him warm but not too hot.

Make sure your baby has a full stomach and is warm enough. Try swaddling your baby (like they did in the hospital or they sell special swaddle blankets at Target, Babies R Us, etc.). Try sleep positioners so they feel mor secure... They also make devices that will make the crib vibrate...

Hope this helps!

That depends on how old the baby is, and what you feed him/her. Breastfed babies eat more often because their body digests it much quicker. You could try co-sleeping, if that is an option for you. Otherwise, you will just have to be patient, they grow out of that!

I've heard of the Johnson and Johnson baby bath that i think has a hint of jasmine or lavender in it thats' supposed to calm the baby down and help him sleep peacefully.

I had the same problem. I did try adding cereal to his bottles, allowing him to eat just before bed, anything that I could think of. Then by the grace of god I got the message that he wasn't comfy. I added blankets thus softening his bed... he slept like a log all thru the night and ever since then... no problems...

Increase his nighttime feedings and create a bedtime routine. My 4 mo. old daughter's routine:

Warm Bath
2 oz bottle
Rice cereal
4 oz bottle
Storytime
Cuddle
Goodnight

It works like a charm for her..but all babies are different.
