I'm in high school and about to graduate in a few months and I've always wanted to be friends with these people and I thought maybe this year I could be. And I got lucky, I got to work on a school project with them and they really liked me but I was too shy and it hasn't gotten anywhere further, I think since I've been so shy we're more distant than the beginning of the year, and I think I've blown at least one or two really good chances. But I don't know, over the years they've always liked me as an acquaintance but we've never really been close friends, they've been really nice and pretty inviting but I don't know if they don't like me enough to really want to be close friends, or maybe they figured I had other friends, or they were expecting me to make the next move. What do you think? Should I even bother now that the years half over?

Friendships are not one sided. It sounds like you need to grow a couple and give then a call or just walk up and hang out. Why should they keep making the gensture? If you want them as friends and your ready to graduate then its time to grow up and have some fun! What will you do when your out on your own and have to make friends. Ya can't just sit by the water cooler the rest of your life. Don't let the world pass you by! Get out there and have fun!

Honestly? Don't worry about it. Once you head off to college you'll probally never see this people again. You'll meet new different people at school and you'll make better connection regarding potential jobs, interns or furthering your education. I had good friends in high school, where are they now? Who knows. If people chose not to keep in contact with you, that's is their choice and you move on.

You won't know unless you try. Swallow your shyness and see if they really want to be your friends. Senior year is a good time to take chances on new friends. If it works out, you leave with good memories. If it doesn't, you gave it a shot, but you'll never see them again.

They should want to be friends with you and if they don't you don't need them.

Be friendly but don't be needy.
