I am so sorry that you do not feel comfortable talking to your mom, she should be there for you as now you are going through a time when there will be a lot of questions to be answered and you do not need bad ot no information. If you can start talking to your mom about this with only her promise not to tell all, if you do not trust her please find some older lady that you can go to. It would be a shame for you to get into trouble because there was no one there for you. Best of luck , and do try

Hi, your mom and your sister I'm sure won't laugh if you tell them - they had this experience themselves and know how it felt. It's a fact of life and just something we have to get on with unfortunately.

When I told my mom (I had no choice - I was 11 and on a caravan holiday in the middle of Wales with my parents!) she said OK, said she would get pads for me and asked if I needed any ibuprofen for the pain.I reckon your mom will be the same.

Your dad won't laugh; if your mom does tell him he'll probably change the subject because men are more uncomfortable talking about periods! When we had a girls only lesson at school when we were 12 to discuss periods, we were given a box of tampons which we threw as missiles at the boys. Their faces were red as a beetroot! So if your dad did make a joke, say you have just run out of tampons and askhim to fetch them - it is a man's worst nightmare!

Periods are every 28 days on average, but don't worry if they are too earl or late - it depends on the individual.
Hope this helps.

you will have a period every month (once a month) it usually last up to a week. You can go to the store & buy maxi pads (specifically "ALWAYS") that's the best brand. It's thin. but it helps not stain your pants. You should mark down on the calendar what day you started, so next month you know what day to expect it again. Change your maxi pad at least 3 times a day! always wear a new one before you go to bed. If your stomach hurts a little, you can take some Tylenol, drink lots of water!
