It does that. It improves self-image. Gives one a chance to practice public speaking It also allows one to detect any physical flaws.

I find it is as talking to yourself is the most intelligent conversation you can ever have. By talking to yourself you build a rapport (bond) with yourself, you'll end up knowing yourself more and your confidence in starting conversations will improve. Although because it has worked on other people doesn't necessarily mean it will work for you but that doesn't mean it won't either so all I can say is just give it a try as the only person to see if it works is you.

Lol that's the general idea. It's a tool used by self esteem coaches who live by the saying 'nobody will like you if you don't like yourself'. The mirror technique is to practise self appreciation and it does have positive effects.

Don't be ashamed, a lot of people do it (myself included). I see it as a more active form of daydreaming, and yes, daydreaming is said to help prepare you for a situation, therefore building confidence. As long as you do not believe that there is another intity within the mirror to actually hear you, you're not insane.

but if you get caught doing it you will loose your focus and will just bring more depression to yourself because you think the idea was ridiculous
