Juilliard is THE place to go for dance, from what I understand. NYU's Tisch School for the Performing Arts is another. Both Dance Magazine and Pointe Magazine will list schools in their magazines and Dance puts out a yearly college guide that's available through their website. It's also available at some bookstores, depending on the time of the year.

Another good resource is to talk to reputable dance teachers in your area. It's also a good idea to take a list of colleges with you in these "interviews" so that both you and the teacher have a visual aide. It will also show them that you are serious about this and are not just a dreamer.

I'm angry.
You cannot say that Julliard is not one of this nations finest PF arts schools. Thats a given. But...
As a past and future upstate resident I'd like to add that the Eastman school of music in Rochester, NY is recognized as one of the finest in the nation. The Buffalo philharmonic and the Rochester philharmonic are among the elite orchestras in the country. Kleinhans music hall in Buffalo has a rich history.
New York is a STATE. Not a gd city.

juilliard, TOTALLY... i go there actually, but for pre-college music division violin, not dance. all the dance students are amazing, though... but modern's more popular than ballet, even though you have to take ballet to a certain extent.
