It was my first time travelling on the greyhound, as we took a month off to travel .We had just came back from a trip to mexico and once we landed at the airport took the greyhound. My husbands idea not mine. I told him I would rather pick up our own car and drive to florida since we had two more weeks remaining but he though it would be easier then driving since we just came back from Mexico . We were both horrified! I'm sorry to say but we both thought we would be mugged .Everything from Alcholics or unusual people and even some man panhandling for money on the bus !Well my husband for the return trip then decided I was right and made me buy airline tickets back .

I had a similar experience. My husband said we should take it from Miami to Los Angeles. That was our biggest mistake.I am regretting it until this day.It was the worst trip of my life."Thumbs down" greyhound.I will never ride you again.

Yes, I have not ridden on Greyhound for some time, but your description does sound typical. If I ever had to travel like this I would either fly or rent a car and drive. Greyhound is cheap for a reason.

I take Amtrak if I need or want to take public transportation anywhere, except for the rare times where I need to fly.

I don't like Greyhound, and avoid it like the plague.

I agree about Greyhound in Canada .. had to take it to a place the train didn't go, and it was fine, even had onboard movies.

Greyhound is for those who can't afford airline tickets or just can't bare to fly.....the only way a prison sends an ex-inmate home (if no one comes to pick them up) is Greyhound so you do the math...if you can get an airline ticket get one every time you travel

In my experience, Greyhound is the travel method of the dregs of American society, the lowest of the low.
I wouldn't take Greyhound again if you put a gun to my head.
It's been over 15 yrs since I stepped on one of those hell hole vehicles.

Yes I rode it once and was petrified! It does not seem like regular society is on those buses.Reading everyone's experiences on here...the only time I rode the grey hound the border police did come on the bus and checked ID and ended up placing a man who looked like an ilegal immigrant in handcuffs !

Pretty rough in my experience. It's cheap, so the poorest members of society use it to get around and many of them are strange! If you have to do it again try sitting in the front of the bus near the driver. It seems to get worse as you move toward the back...

I rode the greyhound bus everywhere in Australia. One really weird guy named Rainbow Whitecloud, no joke, but the other passenger rallied together and the bus drivers kicked him off the bus. Other than that, I had great experiences. I have never ridden it in the US, but I have heard it is pretty sketchy.
