No. The fact that you have a good reason to do something wrong doesn't change the fact that it is wrong. The only justification you could make is that the amount of good done by saving the wife out weighs the harm done by stealing. But the amount of good done by stealing the medicine is irrelevant.

What if I robbed and shot you in the leg to get the money to buy the medicine to save my wife's life. Surely saving my wife's life out weighs the harm done to you, but it doesn't change the fact that what I did is wrong and I had no right to harm you for my benefit or my wife's benefit.

That all being said, if I found myself in such a situation I may very well steal the medicine but I wouldn't pretend what I did was right and I would have to do so fully expecting to suffer the consequences of my actions.

It is always wrong to steal, no matter what the reason. Check out the 10 Commandments for more details. Stealing is a crime and is punishable under the law.

However..... there are many, many government and private organizations which give medicine to needy people. There is no need to steal. If your requests aren't met, then write a letter to the newspaper or call the radio/tv station. Making your need known to the public almost always lets someone know about your need, and THEY will know how to get you in touch with someone who can provide your wife with medicine.

You will have to swallow your pride and accept help. But if you are willing to steal to save your wife's life, then you should also be willing to allow someone to know your need and help your family. It can be humbling to accept help, but there is no shame in it. You give others the opportunity to minister to your need, and everyone is blessed that way.

And this way, you stay out of jail for stealing. Even if you saved your wife's life, she and your family would be devastated when you were hauled off to jail.

No, it is not okay to steal.
However, if you truly checked out every possible way to get the medicine, I can understand why you would do it and not judge you for it. Remember, though, there will be consequences, and also, think about what your wife would think and how she would feel.

No. Contravening a law for your own personal interest can never be an appropriate defense. It would substantially weaken our system of justice.

The person in question would have been able to get the drugs by some other means, even if that meant going bankrupt, or borrowing money from a loan shark - there are always alternatives.

No it's not okay to steal medicine. That medicine could have been for someone else. I could understand you stole for your wife who's dying but thou shall not steal!

No I would'nt steal the medicine, I would beg for it first, contact the media, news channel etc, there are options other than stealing and going to jail, then you cant help her at all so that wouldnt make any sense at all to me. Turn to familiy, friends, churches, etc.

As the law describes it, no matter the reason theft is theft and arrestable and punishable, but if one of my kids needed it and I have to steal it, then so be it. The lives of my children come first, and I will sell my soul to the devil if I had to for them. I am all my kids have and I will do "whatever" I have to do to ensure they are feed, alive and taken cared of. I Thank God every day for my children and for being abel to provide for them.

No it's not ok to steal, but politicians, gods, prophets, lawyers, doctors, drug companies do it all of the time for profit. If my wife was dieing I would opt out for her sake every time and hell with morals. if it'll save her steal it.

No it is not. The medicine belongs to someone. Unfortunately, people are not entitled to everything they want. If you want something, earn it.

Liberals use this kind of stuff to get sympathy to government handouts.
