Twizzle was created and written by Author Roberta Leigh.
Gerry's company A.P Productions was approached to make
the series for tv.
It was about a little boy doll who ran away from his toy shop and along
the way meets a big cat with large paws called "Footso".
Together they build a town called Stray Town, so called as all the residents are stray toys who have left their owners due to neglect.
Out of the 52 episodes made, Gerry only directed or had involvement in the first 26.
One does wonder if any of these episodes are actually in existence as the tv company Associated Redifussion is now defunct and a lot of it's archive officially doesn't exist.
There has also been no confirmed repeats or video releases of this show, even during I.T.C's video releases of the Gerry Anderson catalogue of recent years. Hopefully things may become clearer in time on who owns the rights or if it does exist.
PRINCIPAL CAST

TWIZZLE
The boy doll who can "Twizzle" himself to any length or height he wants, he can increase his leg or arm length to reach high objects.

FOOTSO
The large cat whom Twizzle befriends in the first episode.
Called FOOTSO because of his large feet.

CHAWKY
A white faced golliwog, resident of Stray Town.

CANDY FLOSS
A "mamma" doll who can't say "mamma"

BOUNCY
A ball who has lost his bounce.

Ha! Ha! Yes, I remember Twizzle, especially when he 'twizzled' himself up to look in people's bedroom windows! Don't think that'd be good these days!

I do!! It was one of my favourites. I even had a Twizzle Annual as a Christmas present.

Your question brings back such memories of childhood. Kids today miss out so much cos they think they have to have everything computerised or with a logo on

Oh Rosie! I was 43 in December. When I was about 2, my father went out and bought a black & white cat...simply because we had mice in the flat. My brother and I had the privilage of naming him and we called him Twizzle after our favourite TV programme. So yes, I remember.....and they are fond memories...how fab of you

Tales of the Riverbank with Hammy Hamster, GP and Martha the Mouse. I can't remember whether Martha was in the British series or just in the Canadian revival.

I can remember this, although my husband thinks I am making it up. The boy's arm used to stretch right over the roof of the house. He was like a scarecrow???
