I love swimming, practices are grueling and that is when someone would say they hate it, is after practice when all you want to do is crawl in a hole and die but the effects it has on your body, you get stronger, faster, leaner, thinner, etc. really really fast. It improves endurance in any sport and speed in most spports, you get really strong shoulders, arms, legs, and back.

Think about it, it is like running a cross country race, but instead of just using working legs (no slight against CC, but swimming is harder, half the team is also on CC and they all say swimming is harder) you are working every muscle in your body. A race is just like a cross country race but you are holding your breath most of the time.

The downside, really hard work, really strenuous, and the moment you get back out of shape, it all becomes super hard again. Also, with all the regulations it is pretty easy to get disqualified, today at a meet I had state qualifying time and was in first place but I got disqualified for doing a backstroke flip turn incorrectly.

The season is almost over and everyone is sad. Another bonus, swim team movie night but I dont if that pertains to you.

Swimming rocks. I was on a swim team for years. The friendships you make are awesome. You are looking at one of the best sports for fitness also as it exercises every muscle in your body. Not to mention it is the best exercise for not putting stress on your joints like running. I love competitive swimming and swimming just for fun. I am a major summer baby! August and a Leo. Can't go wrong with all that combination when it comes to swimming.

At first, your like its not so bad, and then once you start doing the workouts you know that its something you have to put alot of time and effort and dedication into otherwise you wont improve, and no matter how badly you think you are or how badly you want to quit because you feel out of place dont because all in the end when your cutting off time and your team is cheering for you and you finish a race and cut a whole lot of time off and its all worth it and its amazing through all the bad stuff you still have fun and thats what its all about and you can look like crap and no one cares because you all feel like that after practice or even before.

I used to, but now I don't really. I don't have fun, and don't understand why you would swim in the first place, except for exercise. Everyone else I know loves it. I like it better than running or bicycling or anything like that, though. At least its easy.

Of course. Where else on earth can you have your body "floating?" You're in a medium that's not air and can move around.

Now if you are on a swim team, you are surrounded by people who love that feeling also.

I LOVE it!

In one of the other topics someone remarks that swimming is as close as you can get to flying. That is probably why I love it.

And it's great exercise too.
