i just woke up some months ago to discover that i love sports and that i wasn't to fat to enjoy sport so i took up swimming and i can 6 out of 10, then football, it has been brilliant and i can say again, 6 out of 10. Now i want to try basketball, i just got a the ball today and want to know be basic drill and practice to do, i will go alone to the basketball court close to my house and practice alone, till atleast i get a hand on something before looking for who to practice with, but i need to know what am going there to practice like throwing the ball into the basket, what angles my hands should be in and the rules there after.

It's hard to describe shooting/release, so I would suggest watching NBA on TV and try to imitate what the pros do at the free throw line. To start, I would probably try to get a feel for the ball and basket by shooting just 2-4 feet away from the front of the rim. Remember to have a good follow-through after you release the ball, it really helps (look at Jordan or Kobe, it's almost exaggerated). Then shoot the ball from the side of the basket (about 2 feet away), but bank the ball off of the backboard. Keep doing this until you feel comfortable and natural, and slowly move farther away from the basket. Remember, that most of the points you score in competition as a beginner will be 2-4 feet away. The long distance shots will come later once your wrist is stronger and you have a feel of the ball.
Also practice dribbling the ball. Remember that once you start to dribble, only 1 hand can touch the ball. If both hands touch the ball at the same time, you must hold the ball and shoot/pass, or you will be in violation of double dribble.
Most importantly, have fun. Don't worry too much about rules for now: just dribble, shoot, rebound, and shoot. The rules are the easy part, and someone will show you. There are also books about the rules, and books for techniques on shooting, dribbling and passing. Good Luck and Enjoy.

well... your right arm needs to be upright but the elbow bent and hand bent back flat, with the ball in your hand and left hand to the side of the ball to support it. Then shooting if the basketball net has a black square on the net board, you need to from a side angle hit it onto the black square board so it bounces into the net. you have to hit the board otherwise you're not playing it right.
And dribbling remember bounce it low, dont double dribble!! (you know bounce catch in your hands then bounce again) its the rules im afraid. you need to be fast and low, enough to make you sweat, just practise on your own doing that dribbling backwards and forwards and shooting! also if you want to do certain practises to help you, transfer the ball around your body, put the ball around your legs from hand to hand, then move up the body, put the ball around your stomach from hand to hand then put the ball around your head from hand to hand, then go back down the body.
With a partner practise long passes, short passes and bounce passes, even try with two balls bouncing at the same time with your right hands.
It works trust me i just finished doing a term of basketball at school.

Hit the basketball courts up! Play 3 on 3 video games, make pals that play the interest. Then learn, its an uncomplicated interest, all approximately team paintings, so which you merely cant learn it on your very own.
