As a former soldier I have some "suggestions" Something the whole platoon can eat would be a good idea because they will anyway. If you put their names on them you become a minor goddess. Get a special outfit to wear on his night back and model a photo of it. Tell him to show no one else (he will) out of pride.

Somethings from the kids, for him. if they make something for his platoon mates (like rice krispie squares) and they ask if they can call them their honouray "uncles" and thank them all for taking care of their Dad (letter, tape, video or voice). Your husband will become the most protected man over there..

Similiar gifts, comments to his Platoon Commander and his sergents etc (titles in a platoon are not the same in Canada and the US) I'm sure you get the idea. If you knit 2 packs of 3 socks are always fun, you can say it,s because he always loses 1 or 1is just in case or 1 for each leg..

Some kind of lucky charm for each soldier in the platoon like a MacDonalds toy or a special stone or a spare pair of bootlaces would have a specialmeaning coming from the wife of one of their own.

Your kids favourite video for all to watch.

a private perfumed letter from you. (it will not be shown around)

Lastly if his first name is John do not begin Dear John

Address it to him and his second family from his first.

They keep each other safe.

When my husband was in Iraq i would send him food that he used too love from back home. I would send him toiletries, and I let the kids pick out stuffed animals for him. I would send him goofy gifts just so he could laugh about something. Or maybe a movie or a game. I also sent him a blanket and pillow that i let the kids draw on and sprayed some of my purfume on it so he would feel closer to home. Just send stuff that he likes. I hope this helps and i hope for the best for your whole family and pray he comes home safe.

My husband is going to Iraq in Feb. He wants me to send lots of sexy pics of myself to him. Also, we have a 3 1/2 month old son so I will be sending plenty of pictures of him as well. I thought about buying a small photo album then going to the crafts section of Wal-mart or some craft store and buying things to embellish it...such as army related things since he's army...camoflauge etc. Then putting Our Life Together on the front of the album with my name, his name and our son's name....then filling the album with pictures from the day we met until now. If you have a digital camera then buy some sexy clothes and have your own photo shoot at home...that is fun...and I'm sure he would appreciate it. If he smokes you could get him a nice Zippo Lighter and have is name and rank engraved on it. They have zippo lighters for every branch of the military. my husband is an engineer and they even have one for engineers. My husband carries his everywhere. Send his favorite candy as well...something that he cant buy over there. My husband couldn't get cotton candy when he was over there the first time...so this time when he goes Im sending him some. I also started a sort of "tradition" where every time he goes away I send him a cute pez dispenser...ie star wars, spongebob etc. seems silly...but he likes it and i think its fun. my husband is also into games..such as hand held poker...psp games...xbox games...and movies. maybe you could send him a psp and some games if he doesnt already have one...they have games for all ages and types of people...plus the cool thing about the psp is that you can buy movies for them too...so he could watch movies. Or send him a bunch of his favorite magazines or books.

Have the kids draw pictures of daddy to send to him maybe make a video of the kids if he has a way to veiw it. capture all the little moments of the kids that you think he misses. like when they are sleeping, or when they are playing, but don't forget to get those cute lil moments when they are crying cuz they miss daddy too. Now from you, put pictures of yourself in there maybe a few in just your undies. I would always send my husband small pillows dosed in my perfume so at night he could hold it and smell me. Or spray all your letters to him in your purfume, apparently they love that, my husband said that guys used to ask to smell his letters. you can also do the little silly things like kiss a peice of paper a bunch of times with really bright lipstick on and then make a bunch of color copies, cut each kiss out and put them on top of every thing your sending inside the box. Or send him a card filled with the kisses and when he opens it they will all fall out on him then say something sweet in the card like i just wanted to shower you in kisses. don't be afraid that anything you do will seem dumb or even a lil crazy. Sure they may giggle a little at how silly your efforts are but inside you have melted thier heart. another thing you can do is make post it notes for everyday that they are gone. you can say stuff just like I miss you or I love you or if you get hard up for ideas (an you probably will) on what to say go to your locale greeting card section and copy down all the cute little stuff you find. I have camped in walmart greeting card isle a few late nights. usually no on says anything to you. I hope this helps some. I know it is hard to find creative way to express your love through the mail but just do what ever you think of they always appreciate the effort!

Send him some pics of you and your kids. Maybe a nice bandanna, spray it with your favorite scent so that he will smell 'you'. Some paperbacks. It's silly but take a sheet of paper, put some lipstick on you and your kids, make lip prints on the paper and send some kisses!! I bet it would make him smile. Hope time flies for you and Aug. will be here before you know it.

All the ideas expressed her are good ones. When I was in the gulf war, my wife sent me poetry, pictures and copies of the kids school work and art work. Anything that would make me feel closer to home. I also recommend sending him a recorded CD with you and the kids talking to him. They have access to computers so that would be nice for him.

He also wants to know you are ok and waiting for him... re-inforce it with him.

properly, to be hassle-free; in Korea they particularly plenty have the staples that they don't have in say Iraq. If he's in Iraq you could deliver him issues like cookies and candy, yet in Korea he has get admission to to all of that form of stuff. i could say deliver issues that are very close to to the middle, and not in uncomplicated terms to fill a field as quickly as each and every week. while my husband grew to become into long gone I merely wrote him a million letter an afternoon, and sent a %. of imagery as quickly as each and every week with photos of the family individuals and our growing to be domestic dog, and he grew to become into so very appreciative of that. you do no longer would desire to spend any type of money to make him chuffed.

Send lots of pics of you and the kids, also send letters. And maybe some of his favorite things, like food that's non-perishable. Just things that would remind him of you and the kids.

I'm sure your husband will be thrilled with anything you send him because he misses home and it's a reminder of his family. God bless your husband and your family for serving our country.

Have your children color pictures for him, he will love it! Also, when my fiance was over, I bought a plain white pillowcase and transfer photo paper. I printed pictures of us off of my computer onto the transfer photo paper. I put the pictures on the pillowcase and used fabric marker and wrote quotes, I love you, etc around the pictures. He absolutely loved it. All of his friends that saw it loved it as well!!!
