This may sound weird, but when I watch a TV show where people get a free house or something really good happens...I get all weepy and feel overly empathetic. Is this a bad thing? I sometimes feel that way when someone gives me an unexpected compliment.

There is a theory that the reason we cry in this type of scenario is that it actually makes us sad....perhaps we cry at the unexpected compliment because we are sad that we haven't gotten more.

And you do sound unusually empathetic. Not altogether a bad thing but do try to balance your life with things that bring happiness with them as well.

Peace.

We're in a new age the Conceptual Age where a lot of people are getting more sensitive, artistic, creative and you probably are picking up this spirit of world, the collective consciousness. It used to be the collective consciousness, i think was of the US but now we have more of a world view and we learn a lot in the information age to make us less ignorant and crude. At the same time others are soo crude? LOL I fell like a kickball sometimes when I just go to the store. I can see where a kind word would be in store, but not yet.

You seem like a very sensitive person. Generally, crying for joy isn't a bad thing, but I would practice some restraint or people may start to think you a bit odd. This is not so bad among friends, but if you start crying frequently in the working world, that would not be so good.

It's because you are very very intune "psychically". You have a very good spirit/aura. You tune into and can "feel" people's pain, an animal's hurt. I bet you even start to cry when you drive by an accident and see someone hurt. Your a good soul. You should really look developing your psychic ability since it is clear you do have something. Try taking Reiki for starters. I have a feeling you will be good at it. If you are sensitive, you will be sensitive to touch and can probably use it in a very good way to heal people.

Maybe you haven't had a lot of nice things happen to you or haven't received a lot of attention and praise, so you're not used to it. It can be hard to learn how to accept compliments, but most people are sincere and you must deserve the compliments.

But you're not weird or anything. Sometimes when I watch good things happen to other people, I get a little teary myself. I guess I am just so happy for them. It's a good thing, I think, to be happy for other people.

Have you always been this way? Or is it something new. If it's something new, did you just have a baby? Hormonal fluctuations can do this.

Some women are just very emotional when they are PMSing. So, maybe this is you.

Still others, can just come from very emotional families. They grew up seeing these as normal responses.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I think it takes all kinds in this world, and someone who doesn't have total control of their feelings seems refreshingly honest to me.

I am like that too. I can cry over the most stupid things. I am a very emotional person and care about everything and everybody. It's worse when I am home by myself and am watching a sad movie. If I am with someone then I will usually leave the room to have a cry.

I'm the same as you. Sometimes I feel embarassed about it because I know some poeple can see at least one of my eyes beginning to water. This happens to me because rarely do I see poeple do nice things. And when someone does a nice thing for me, specifically when someone says something nice about me, thats when I most feel it.

I think your fine. We're both just very sensitive. And I hear people say thats a good thing. Just don't let people abuse you because of it.

I'm an adult male & this same exact thing happens to me.My friends tease me all the time. Even if it's a happy commertial I get all choked up.Now I'm not realy sure why this happens but, I think it may be because I'm not a real happy person & to see such happiness really gets to me.Don't get me wrong,I am happy for them but wish I could expeirience such happiness.I also wish I could bring such happiness to some one like that.
