I don't live near PA, so don't know teachers or places there. Good luck in finding a good teacher.

Another option is using "Online" courses. I used a learn-at-home course and it was both very effective and very inexpensive compared to hiring a guitar teacher. Also, it enabled me to progress at my own pace, practice whenever I had free time.
Best advice i can give you is to go to the reviews site where i read about the course i bought, http://www.ReviewsNest.com . They give free reviews for several guitar courses, tell U what to look for in a course, what are the best courses around, and what u get in each course they checked.
I bought the LMG course (their top pick) so i can only vouch for it - I don't know about the other courses. However - the course i bought is excellent, and their review of it was spot-on, and it looks like the other reviews they put for the other courses are good too. LMG - the course i bought - costs $250 (i got it on sale for $200), so it may be too expensive 4U (is it?) but if so - the other courses reviewed cost only $20 to $40 , and also seem great.
Good luck, whatever you choose. Once you start playing well - you'll never stop!

A good lessons program helps inspire you by having people that believe in you. You get to hear stories of how other people are living their dream and can then apply their learning to your own situation. By taking lessons, you'll tap into the wisdom of instructors that have been through your situation before, and are willing to help you get to where you want to be. A guitar with nylon strings is preferable for beginners, as steel strings can be hard on the fingertips. The sound of the nylon string guitar is less obtrusive and mellower than that of the steel string acoustic. This helps if you need to practice within earshot of other members of your household. Nylon strings also lend themselves more easily to fingerstyle guitar playing such as classical, flamenco, acoustic blues and folk music.
