Opinions please!

Caveat Emptor or let The Buyer Beware should be used even we are on a quest for information. I had a great teacher that told us that we should “believe nothing we hear and very little of what we read, but to search out and learn the truth for ourselves.” As relates to many people in our western society, maybe we should also add we can not always believe what we see, because so many of us hide behind their material gains. It is my thinking that people that communicate via the internet only reflect society.

To think internet communication would be more honest than society might be admirable and displays a trusting character, but it is also somewhat naive. I know I sound cynical, but I think of myself as a pragmatist. I do not trust what people say, but only what an individual does - even if I do not understand the why of their actions. For all relationships, it is our responsibility to be honest and to trust our observations of others.

Personally, I do not think that internet has made the world closer. Some people like it because of their perceived anonymity. And there are those that like the impersonal aspects. However, I think no one can argue about how much the internet has improved the possibilities, speed, and ease of communications. Only time knows if it will improve honesty between the peoples of the world.

The Internet is a double-edged sword. It's great to interact with people from all over the world but on the down side a lot of those people are stupid and/or dangerous.

I agree. A lot of people make up a lot of false information.

You should only trust credible websites that are a part of major companies or colleges...... like Harvard or CNN.
