Does she touch your vagina while you are giving birth.

Not unless you want your perineum stretched. Are you familiar with this? If not you should be, because having your vagina stretched a bit helps you not to tear during delivery.

Aside from being rarely checked to see the status of your dilation there is no reason for your midwife to have her hand in your vagina.

A midwife can do everything a doctor can do - except surgery. They are usually more hands off, believing that birth is a naturally occuring event, and not something that a mom needs to be rescued from like most OB's think. They do internal exams, and they may help support and massage the perenium while baby gets ready to crown. If for some reason, mom wants the midwife to be hands off, except for catching the baby, they will most likely agree to your wishes.

Nooo, she gives a manual with instructions LOL. Potentially, the midwife does the same as any doctor. She checks all your vitals, and i would think she would HAVE to touch the vagina in order to guide the baby out.

Just like a doctor, yes, she may need to touch your vagina, after all, that's where the baby is coming out!

i had a regular doctor, but a friend of mine is a midwife, and she does a similar job as a doctor. basically though a midwife tries to make you as comfortable as possible. she massages the woman during pains, put a rag on your head, stuff like that, but also delivers they baby. also since you are their only patient during your delivery, you have their full attention. unlike my doctor who would leave the room and only check back every 20 minutes.

She does whatever a doctor would do to help the mother give birth. Once you are in labor, you won't care what else is going on!
