Whole lot of psychologically driven and stupid answers here. Jealousy is not proof of love, but accompanies it, to one degree or another. A lot of people here imbued with the mistaken psychological notion that jealousy is some kind of pathology that affects humans from the outside; the usual social science twaddle. Jealousy is a human emotional response that can get out of hand, as any human emotional response can. You can be morbidly jealous, but it is not an aberration, just distinctly human.
PS Insecurity is an EFFECT of jealousy, not a cause. This is a typical social science mistake; effect for causality.

I believe it is a proof of love, but certainly not the strongest proof. Love is all sorts of things...if there was no love, what would there be to be jealous of? Jealousy may not be healthy for love but like all things has a purpose and that purpose may just be to prove love exists.

As fever is an indication for a probelm within the body, so is jealousy is an incator for an underlying problem within the mind. It is definitely not a proof of love . It is a proof for overwhelming possessiveness. If anything it is a condition of not being able to share Love.

I really think its proof of someone who wants something or someone to and all for there self and if that isn't the reality they become jealous of the person or whoever you looked at. It is a tricky question because if you looked in the direction of something and someone is there but you paid them no mind and they become "jealous" thinking you looked at the person then they could be paranoid or untrusting in you.
but no it is not proof of love
proof of love would be so different and it will feel great most of the time and could also make the heartache.

Jealousy is a useless emotion. Nothing positive - for anyone - can come from it. And it is certainly not any kind of proof of love...it is proof of insecurity and a desire to 'own' or 'control'.
Young women frequently act in ways to make their mates jealous...its childish and immature. And can lead to a world of heartache and danger if they underestimate their mates.

In my opinion jealousy has nothing to do with love. Jealousy to me is lack of self esteem or self worth. Jealousy is best described by the very suffix of the word, " Lousy ".

No...jealousy is far from proof of love....jealousy is fear, control, immaturity....jealousy has been responsible for horrific things...murders, spousal abuse....how can jealousy be a sign of love?
