This question is asked with no prejudice and is only a question to gather opinions on such a sensitive topic.

Now to those who are going to respond every channel is white entertainment television, feel free to answer but we are now seeing more racial diversity and unbiased equality in our entertainment industry than ever before, so, though your answer will be appreciated it will however have a weak basis of debate.

To those who answered intelligently, I thank you for your responses some of them were quite on topic and even humerous. To those who chose to use it as a platform to vent your racial frustrations please learn to focus your energy into something positive that would benefit mankind, respect and appreciation for all things living. (I guess "mankind" may be a little too politcally incorrect for some , so shall I say humankind). LOL
Peace!!

I wouldn't be offended per say. But, i'm wondering what exactly this cannel would show. As you said yourself we are seeing more diversity throughout, so I don't really see anything as just "white" anymore. The counterargument with what I'm saying is that BET can possibly be argued as not being completely black because there are white artists on that channel (Justin Timberlake, Eminem, etc.).

The idea is of culture and who has one. I don't really see the white race as having a culture within itself. Now, if you say Irish or German, well...then it's just Irish or German.

But, to answer your question - no I do not think it would be offensive to me personally. It would be comical. Kind of hard to keep it from just becoming some type of joke/parody channel that played off of BET.

(And...WET is just funny sounding. Seems like it should be a porn channel)

Sure. Although we would be better off having HET- Human Entertainment Television- For anything A Human would watch. And have a better shot being called rascists by dogs and other species.

Sure. It'd be cool. But then again The minorities still seem to think they deserve special privelages for being prejudiced against. Heh. So they might sue. Iunno. i think we should just stop labeling each other as races and seriously make a HET

*Edited*
Okayyy. To the person in front of me (Brown Eyed Beauty)

You have thus proven to be more rascist than him. 1) You just completely labeled a channel ignorantly by saying MTV was majoritly for white viewers. They play what's mainstream moron, which at this point is emo and rap. They play more rap than anything so what are you ragging about. And i can sympathize because minority groups have been bitching and, suprisingly enough, accusing white people of rascism where there is none to be found. They keep relying on this whole slaver and mistreatment as some kind of aliby to keep themselves safe. If WET were to actually come on air, it could possibly be the most unrascist show ever, and black people would sue. America has grown to hate any forms of white rascism. Yet black people have been getting away with it ever since they've gotten freedom. They justify their rascism towards white people with slaver, over and over again. So go read a book.

I think you've raised an excellent point, and it doesn't just appply to color, For instance, it would be considered acceptable to open an all-female university, but an all-male one would be denounced as sexist. It's time to recognize that reverse discrimination is still discrimination, and two wrongs don't make a right.

I watched the Essence Awards once, and I didn't care much for the premise. It's an awards show for "people of color", which means that white people are the only group not welcome. The idea is that they think they have to have their own awards show because they won't have a fair shot competing against white celebrities. I think that attitude is demeaning to both sides if you think about it.

Another example is "Take Your Daughter to Work Day". In my opinion, it insults girls by implying that they wouldn't get jobs without this extra boost, and discriminates against boys by not giving them the same opportunity to see the working world. Some of the companies I've worked for wisely renamed it "Take your child to work day" to eliminate the discrimination. That's the way it should be. The only way to be truly equal is to do away with discrimination on both sides.

Personally I wouldn't be interested in that station. I love all cultures and think it's interesting to learn about all cultures. I am not bias about other races including my own.

I live in Canada where we have much diversity and yes some stations that are mixed culturally mainly because we aren't as huge in population to the U.S. by comparison.

Here in Canada we have omni television that focuses on more then one culture. Which does have a number of races that speak other then english in their native tongue and also it's mixed with a variety of shows. http://www.omni1.ca/

Much of the Canadian stations we have are mixed diversity so I don't see that changing in our country mainly because there isn't any need for it.

Other main stations (affiliate stations in other cities and smaller towns by these networks plus cable networks (not listed) that will vary in each city) we have are:

http://www.ctv.ca/
http://www.cbc.ca/
http://www.canada.com/globaltv/index.html
http://www.visiontv.ca/
http://www.ctstv.com/
http://www.muchmusic.com/

In Quebec they have CBC and probably other french television stations I would imagine.

http://pages.globetrotter.net/gtrudel/tv.htm

We also get a number of American stations like CBS, ABC, and MSNBC.

If there were going to be a "White Entertainment Television" network then my first thought are who is behind it? The KKK? I could even be wrong but that would be my first guess because I have heard so much about racial tensions in the States.

Not to say that we as a country here haven't had our own share of problems with racism with other cultures. I struggle with the negative attitudes that people have towards other races.

When we look beyond the color of a person and begin to see what's in the heart of every person then we can see that others have the same needs we also have when it comes to life in general. (Food, Clothing, Shelter, and most of Love.)

I honestly see no reason to debate a subject that only turns into a fight where as both sides end up losing.

There still is a lack of representation on television, so no it is not becoming "even". Just the fact that there has to be a station to go to so you will see a black prospective is sad. Then to get an asian, middle eastern, etc. you have to buy premium chanels. Spanish t.v. represents for hipanics, but what about hispanic americans who don't speak spanish or simply want to see hispanics in english telivision shows? People complain about the lack of integration, but in reality there has to be changes in the dominant culture to make people feel like assimilation will be a reality in there lives, family, and culture. So yes there is change, and it is good, but much more should be done, and wet is not one of the things that needs to be high on the list. Wait until 20_ _ when the hispanic population is higher that the white, then you can have your white entertainment television.

Based on the definition of racism, this is not. But the point of BET (Black Entertainment Television) is for the ignorant citizens to get a glimpse at the average african american life because we are a minority, while whites are the majority. Black culture is not racist, neither is white culture. In my opinion, no one should say the n word. It is disrespectful for people to say the n word when just a little over 50 years ago was the civic rights movement, when people were protesting for equal rights for blacks, which included not saying the n word.

in our ridiculously politically correct society, it would be.

In the 60s, everything was white TV. In this decade, diversity is the rule. Every white TV character has a black friend. Not every black character has a white friend, though.. is that fair? no, but it's politically correct. So if you want white TV, watch TV land.

The programmers and networks don't have the BALLS to exclude the minorities. someone will cry unfair and they don't have the stomach for criticism from anyone.

so keep on watching the crap that networks keep throwing at us. I, for one, would rather not.

White TV may be kinda boring, though. the **** Van Dyke Show marathon, all this weekend! WOO HOOO!

Yes, you could just watch MTV. Its not all white, but since people will be offended you could just be content with watching it. I don't think there should just be a channel that is only geared to a specific race or genre of music. We should all integrate all Just my opinion. Not really supported by facts but just why I think this. If we are being more diversified and equal, do we need WET, or even BET? Lilke I said, just combine all types of music into one Mega channel.

Isn't BET 'Black Entertainment Television'? If not, I apologize for assuming.
But if so, there doesn't seem to be a problem with that, but I know there would be if someone created a WET.
