Hindus attach great importance to this ornamental mark on the forehead between the two eyebrows — a spot considered a major nerve point in human body since ancient times. The red 'bindi' between the eyebrows is said to retain energy in the human body and control the various levels of concentration. It is also the central point of the base of the creation itself — symbolising auspiciousness and good fortune.

Married Hindu women traditionally wear a bindi on their foreheads. The traditional bindi is made with red sindoor powder or perhaps a black ointment. It is applied low in the center of the forehead, close to the eyebrows.

In modern times, the bindi has become a decorative item and is worn by unmarried as well as non-Hindu women, in India, Bangladesh and other countries of South Asia. It is no longer restricted in colour or shape. Self-adhesive bindis (aka sticker bindi) are available. They are made of felt or thin metal, and comes with glue on one side. It is an simple application 'use-and-throw' substitute of old tilak. Sticker bindis are also fashion icons worn for the pupose of self-decoration, as they come in all colours and exotic designs, sequinned, dusted with gold powder, studded with beads and glittering stones etc... and in different sizes.

According to the Hindus, our body has Chakras (means wheel) which generate great energy.

Forehead is second most powerful source of energy (the crown is the most powerful source). To retain the energy, the red dot is applied between the eyebrows. Both men and women wear apply the "Tilak" or "Bindi" on their forehead.

Married women apply vermilion along parting of hair in the middle of the head.

I think it's a Charaka (sp?)
And I think the main energy or third eye is located on your forehead between your eyes.

Sorta like acupuncture. that spot is supposed to be the source of all energy. I not too sure though.

The third eye is supposed to symbolize the third eye, which signifies you're enlightened since you see the spiritual aspects of life. I do also believe it means you're married.
