Plenty of people who've never played a sport get into top colleges. Just focus on one or two extracurriculars and achieve some meaningful community service and/or employment in lieu of participating in a sport.

Absolutely Yes.
If you are still in high school you begin there. You make sure you take Advanced Placement Classes. You do volunteering as that is looked at favorably by colleges and Universities.
You must obtain good grades, score relatively high on your ACT and SAT exams.
If you have an idea of a college or university you'd like to attend. E-Mail them from their web sit and contact Student Counseling Center. Ask what they look fo rin a student to whom they'd want to accept.
If you can't afford to pay, ask what help they offer in obtaining Grants, as Grants you do not have to repay, but student loans do have to be repaid.
Each college and university has different things that they look at in accepting a student.
If you are an adult already, not so good grades, it will be hard. But you can start by attending a community college and excelling there for two years, volunteering in areas related to what you'd like to major in. Basically building yourself a student resume that looks so good that in a few years when you apply to attend a college or university, they'll look at your grades, your skills in other areas, including volunteering and want you as a student at their college or university.
If you have a disability, documented one, are from a certain ethnic back ground, some times college's will accept you that normally would not because of the government requirement that universities and colleges make sure they include people from these groups.
Never accept that you can't progress and obtain your college or university dreams, sometimes it just takes a little longer and a different route to getting there. But it's possible, always.

You need to have very good grades and extra curricular activities like belonging to a service club. A high SAT score can also help you get into the college of your choice.

Most people who go to top colleges don't play sports.
They get in because they are smart and work hard. Working hard is more important than being smart.
