How can I boot my Mac OS 9 installation CD on a Power Mac (7300)?

I already tried C and CMD-OPT-SHIFT-DEL without success. The one thing I know is that a couple of months ago I did find a way to boot it from the CD but I can't seem to find how.

oh easy. insert the disc, and re-start. as soon as the Mac makes normal noises of starting up, press and hold the "C" key. mac with open the disc, and start up in safe mode.

you should just have to hold the c key till the grey apple screen comes up
