Write in Slope Intercept Form the equation for a line that passes thru (-5,3) & (4,-5). Son needs help.?

2. Equation : y = (-8/9)x + intercept

3. Pick a coordinate and sub into the equation

(5-3)/4-(-5)
2/9 <-- leave as a fraction. This is your slope.
Second you plug you information into the point slope form.
Y-Y1=m (X-X1)
y-3=2/9[X-(-5)]
y-3=2/9[x+5]
y-3=2/9x+10/9
Third is the slope intercept form (but its basically continuing to simplify the point slope form.)
y-3=2/9x+10/9
y=2/9x+37/9

If you want to do the standard (Ax+By=C) form you do this:
y=2/9x+37/9
9[-2/9x+y=37/9]
