Hello????
The child support isn't just for his 'fun' stuff. It is also for mortgage payments, insurance, food, utilities, car payments to drive him around. Clothes. Shoes, Personal grooming items. Allowance.
You think your child support goes far? GEEZ

it "child support" not "child trust fund". .. money never goes to the kids or they would spend it on junk food, movies, dvd's, cd's and Lord knows what else...instead of the electric, rent, etc.

but i think i know what you mean; your talking about sending your son to the store to buy his own sneakers or pick you up milk or what ever.

yes he can use it. but as a mother of four, there is no way i would let that card go without it being handed back (with receipts) immediately after being used. and if abused, they would never get the chance to do it again.

i live in NJ and we have the same kind of card you are talking about. its a credit card looking thing, but can be used like a debit card... at the grocery store, etc or you can with drawl all of the cash at once (per week for free). it also has a pin number you assign it. its in the instructions when it comes in the mail.

beware; the bank that issued that card, charges fee's for usage. not withdrawling one lump sum (at certain locations).

read the fine print when it arrives... so you know how much you will be charged.

also, when your ex makes a payment, it takes days to register on those cards, so dont use it until you call the number on the back of the card (to verify amount in the account) or use the free website they tell you about. (www.eppicard.com) to check the amount available.

they do charge for over drawls.

Awesome program. Wisconsin will be using debit cards very soon as well. As with any debit card, it will be at the merchant's discretion when requesting and ID--however, if these work like debit cards where pin # is required--it should not be a problem. I would call the 800# and ask. If an ID is required, call your clerk of courts and ask how to obtain a state of Ohio picture ID for your son.
