Right now, I think the Finals are going to be the Anaheim Ducks versus the Buffalo Sabres.
I'm taking the Ducks out of the West, because of their overall talent. With all the core seasoned veterans they have on the roster in Chris Pronger, the Niedermeyers, and Teemu Selanne. They also have a bunch of up and coming young players like Ryan Getzlaf, Dustin Penner, and Chris Kunitz. Plus, they're backed by a solid set of goaltenders in J-S Giguere and Ilja Bryzgalov. This is one of the most complete teams you'll find in the NHL. Once they come back from all of the injuries they're currently going through, they'll get right back in stride and finish the second half of the season strong.
The Buffalo, coming up just short of the finals last year, is looking just as good if not better than the Ducks. They are getting outstanding play out of their goaltenders Ryan Miller and Martin Biron. And with their ability to score, there have been few times this season when they have struggled. Their core of Daniel Briere, Thomas Vanek, Chris Drury, and Maxim Afinaginov are just a few names of their All-Star cast. People are all talking about Briere and Drury so far this season, but my personal favorite of this bunch is Thomas Vanek. He was overshadowed last year by Alexander Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby, but this young man put together one heck of a year. And he's doing it again this year. He leads the Sabres in goals halfway through the season, and he's making it look easy.
I will say this final will go down to the wire, and the Sabres will win it in 7.
