By deviant I'm assuming you don't mean way out there, like sexual practices. Americans will use given names immediately on meeting someone, where in other countries, even one as close as the U.K., it's considered bad manners. Shaking hands makes many cultures uncomfortable. Kissing as a greeting is normal in some European countries but would make an American uncomfortable. Even something as simple as making eye contact when talking to omeone varies, it is mandatory in rhe U.S. and Canada but is not natural to First Nation people.

In Saudi Arabia, a woman showing skin other than her forehead, eyes, or hands is considered deviant. It is a sign that the woman is impure and "asking" for sexual encounters. I feel it is caused by the fact that the men there have no self-control, and would rather have the women suffer. (they are considered to be of less woth than a dog, and treated worse) If a man with higher power or any man at all is found to be guilty of rape, the man is rarely punished. The woman is always punished by some form of tortured death. I'm so glad I live in America.

I wish I had my Psych text to give me specifics, but I do know that here, most children get their own bedrooms if they are past the toddler stage, or actually still in the toddler stage. In Middle Eastern culture, children up to their preteens can actually sleep in the beds with their parents! Of course to Americans that is considered deviant because Michael Jackson did it, and look where it got him. But the other culture's reasoning for letting a "grown" child sleep with them is because of security, and the closeness of family, I suppose its better since there is usually fighting over there, and there is safety in numbers.

There is atribe where men perform sexual acts toward the young males. They believe that manhood is passed on in the semen. Therefore, they plant the "seed" in the young males so that they can become men. In many countries that is called homosexuality and if the young males are young enough it is called rape.

Canabelism, is a good example. Most places it is not acceptable to eat other people, but to cannibals it's just food.
