The Roman citizens had over 1,000 years of security, wealth, enough freedoms, comfortable lifestyles, no terrorists, a great economy & the only immigrants they had were mostly slaves. US has been around for about 200 years & if it gets many more leaders like the current ones it won't last another 50 years. So which is it 1,000 year US Empire or a 250 year US republic?

Well, as long as you don't invade Britain and make us do what you want, I have no trouble with you lot having an Empire

As long as it becomes an empire within its own borders and no aggression against other nations then no other nation will have an objection. However, if it wants to interfere with the lives of other nations then those nations and other potential victom nations will have problems and will resist because their freedom is dearer to them too.
If it satisft you, US is already a neocongelical empire on its territory cheered by pseudo-patriots and resented by the true patriots for the direction it has been put in.

the US empire won't get lots greater. and that i don't think of we will come crashing down because of the fact the international relies upon too lots on our economic equipment. As for the present empire, it is going to stop in January of 2009. Afterwards, Hillary Clinton stands out as the hot emperor.

You really don't have a clue what it was like to live in the Roman Empire do you??? I mean it amazes me how people come on here and spout out the stuff they do when they are so clueless what they are talking about! And as for the British, ya right.

unfortunately, we seem to be headed down that path already...and the world is a much 'smaller' place than it used to be...empires don't have much chance at lasting that long anymore-besides, look at what both 'empires' have become...do we REALLY want to end up like england or italy????? perish the thought
