The ONLY law that emergency vehicles are allowed to break is that of speeding when attending an emergency using blue lights and sirens The jumping of red lights, wrong way round islands, and other such manouvers that emergency vehicles `On the Bell`, carry out, are simply a concession which do not not attract the the eyes of the law unless you have an accident, then you are in the shlt.

The simple answer is no. Emergency vehicles are covered by the same laws as you and me. However the may if proceeding to a crime or accident exceed the speed limit. In doing so they must have audible sound and lights on to warn the public and other road users. Should they be involved in an accident they should be treated as any member of the public. The may go through red lights and in bus lanes but they do so only if it is safe. The driver has to make his/her own mind up but safety is the most important factor.

If they are responding to an emergency they may break the speed limit, treat red lights as give way signs and ignore keep left signs etc.
If you were under immediate threat and had called 999, would you prefer if the police sat in traffic and dawdled along to help you?
However, they can, and are, held to account if things go wrong.

they must be when on emergency calls or none of them would have a driving license anymore and anyone of us may be grateful one day for them speeding to our rescue, some other drivers should however get fined for not having the common sense to get out the way at times when they see this big white thing with bright blue flashing lights they seem to freeze

Police are allowed to speed but you must be able to justify your decision to do it; ie, getting to an emergency call, pursuit, etc, but going to court, late for donuts etc does not. POlice can still get speeding tickets, and regularly do.

No. They are not allowed to speed. Mostly though, they do speed to emergencies and this only becomes an issue if they crash and kill or hurt someone.
