Well of course it doesn't during the operation, it just feels like some pressure.
But of course after the medication wears off it is going to be painful.
Just like having natural birth, it is painful. Now my mother in law told me that it is much more painful to have a c section, you can hardly bend over and you definetly can't stand straight.
But that was year and years ago, so they have made advances since then, And i've talked to some people who have said it was fine. But some people recover quicker than others anyways.

The C section by itself, probably does hurt, but you won't feel it, because you will be given a spinal first. It totally numbs you from the chest down. After the meds wear off, it will ache, but you will be given morphine and pain medication to help you sleep. After about a day, they take you off the morphine, and then it's just the medication that you'll be on. Then you will be able to come home.

I had my first daughter natural and I had my second daughter c-section. If I had it to do again, I would have a c-section for both. In my cause, the incision sight was sore, but the thing that hurt the most was the intense gas.
A C-section experiance can be different for each women.

Having had a C-section I can tell you first hand that when the anesthesia wears off yes you are sore but the best thing you can do it to get up and WALK! If you lay in bed and don't move, you will be twice as sore when you try to get up. Don't be afraid to ask for something for pain either. But WALK!

After the surgery, yes, there will be pain just as with any major surgery. Pain medicine will be available for the pain, but will not take it all away. A tolerable amount of discomfort will be there for a week then will taper off with increase in activity.

after the meds wear off, of course it is going to hurt a least a bit. after all, it is a surgery. but the doctors should give antibiotics and painkillers to ease the pain as the cut heals.

i had a c-section 2 yrs ago, and during the c-section you won't feel a thing, you should be awake, but well drugged. it's afterwards that hurts. (my incision was stapled) i could hardly walk for over a week. also, the incision area was very sensitive for about a year. now, the scar is hardly noticible, and very low.... it doesn't even show in my swim suit.

Any incision hurts. My mother had a C-Section with her third and told me she could feel it for MONTHS after the birth... she would lean against the counter to put a dish away, for example, and could feel pain months after the surgery. Compared to a vaginal birth, the pain lasts much longer and from what I've heard, it's much worse than a vaginal birth with the recovery time and overall pain factor. I've only had vaginal births, so I don't know first-hand what a C-section feels like, but I can tell you I wouldn't want to have one!

Think about it. You lower abdomen is cut open, a child is forced through the opening..doctors are rooting around in there with their hands...then they sew you back up.
When your meds wear off you will certainly feel pain, and probably for a few weeks later. Takes a while before you heal up. The cut has to heal and grow back over.

Don't do it if you can at all help it...
It sucks! It hurts like hell afterward, before and during... Even under anesthesia, and you tend to bleed out and since they shove you out the door two or three days afterward now days... It usually happens when you get home.
If you don't wear a girdle afterward, you get a permanent pooch that no sit ups in the world can cure!
I have a scar from hip bone to hip bone that is numb... absolutely no feeling down there at all! (Not that I need any in my stomach, but still) They root around and mess with your internal organs too.
personally, I have never felt right after since. I had two one right on top of the other.
