Fox viewers think that Iraq is payback for 9/11. Everyone else knows there is no connection.
However, we are now to the point where deaths of America soldiers in combat will exceed the number of Americans who died in 9/11.
Forget the fact that the official count of soldiers only includes combat deaths and not all other types.
For those that support the war -- how many deaths mean the cost was too high? Is it infinite?

Babyshoes -- Cheney and Bush both say there is no connection. If you say there is, you are contradicting the men that sent us to war.

Taxidriver -- are you talking to me? Are you looking at me? I don't see anyone else standin' here. Seriously, now. So, is you answer that we should go until it is equal to Vietnam, as many as it takes, infinite? Should, say, 100,000 soldiers die so Iraqis have a shot at democracy? (let's forget that I think that notion of democracy is a complete joke)

Smile, thanks for the eloquent response. I do not condone the use of violence to promote economic objectives, such as in Iraq. I only speak of troops because conservatives cannot hide from that body count. Of course, the great cost is borne by the Iraqi people, such as the hapless former citizens of what used to be called Fallujah. Killed simply because they lived in the wrong place in a country floating on oil. This boils down to a fundamental problem with our foreign policy -- can we possibly act completely amorally, killing thousands of innocent foreigners for economic gain here at home, and legitimately call ourselves a righteous nation based on Judeo-Christian values? I say NO WAY. We are ultimately at war with ourselves. Something has to give.
