Here's my story...
1. Get in where you fit in!
2. Make as much money as you can!
3. Go to work to make money and not friends!
4. Love yourself first!
5. THIS IS A COLD WORLD AND WITH EVERY NEW YEAR COMES SOME MORE B*******! Learn to live in it and care for what cares for you.
6. Give love when it's deserved not just because or people will run all over you!!

Not all People are selfish and uncaring, but those who are were taught to be that way. Explain: another words they were uncared for or people were selfish around them. Some become selfish, becuase they were so spoiled they got everything and had to share nothing.
I have two daughters one lives with me and the other with her grandmother. For awhile, both of them lived with their grandmother, but my oldest ( finely ) decided to move back in with us. One of the reasons was she was being avoided and my youngest gets everything she wants. My oldest doesn't get things handed to her for free here. She has to earn it, by doing her chores, going to school, doing her best in school, and taking time away from her friends for me. My youngest still gets what ever she wants from her grandmother. All she has to do is cry and they get it. When she visits us, she can't wait to go back to grandmas' because our rules aren't the same. I believe that when both get older my oldest will have respect and a kind heart. My youngest will probably get along with noone, because she will want what she can't have. This may sound cruel coming out of a mothers mouth, but I truly believe that is the way her life is headed. People are selfish and uncaring because they are taught to be that way!!!

Society as a whole is being conditioned to prepare for success. No matter what the cost is. Our journey to be the best at everything causes overcompetition. Overcompetition in turn breeds a lack of trust. When people do not trust one another they focus on their own wellbeing. Too much focus on the personal leaves no room for the caring of others.

Selfish people are idle and amoral. They see the world as their personal dominion and no one else matters. Sometimes it comes from being an only child or otherwise cut off from a variety of people. Most famous contemporary example would probably be Brandon Davis, a fat slob who lives off his family money and has nothing good to say or do for his fellow human beings. Even if the Davises cut him off, he'll probably still be a whining sack of fecal matter. ;)

If they were raised by people like that so thats how theyve been taught to act. You would think some people would learn as they get older but some people just don't care about others feelings.

Possibly because they are building up a wall around themselves to not get hurt. They feel that they have to put others down and hurt them to get a feeling of power and self-assurance.

Not all people act that way. I guess it's a fend for yourself situation they are in.
