Do you? And if so, what are your theories on why they aren't active in the world anymore?

Yes dragons are real. I've seen one in the sky. Of course this was 2 years ago but Draco's still out there. Allow me to explain what happened to these magnificent creatures. A long time ago dragons once lived in peace with humans. But, there was one evil dragon Smaug who did not believe that any dragon should serve humans;they should serve they dragons. He began killing people thus giving the theory that all dragons are evil and must be slain. And with that knights slayed dragons for the high amount of gold paid for a dragon's head. That began the oblitheration of dragons. By the thousands they were slain. Soon close to none were left. The dragons flew away to a scared relm known only by dragons. Even the dragons of the far East who were greatly honored have disappeared. The evil Smaug the dragon traitor was also slain. Legend says that when the world is at peace the dragons will return. Until then only spirit dragons remain. The spirit dragons choose to protect the chosen humans that believe in dragon existence. The cannot be seen by those that do not believe in dragons. They refused to show themselves to such people. The appear to be transparent but they are there. I am protected by the eastern spirit dragons the luckiest of all dragons. Perhaps you have seen the spirit dragons.

I believe they did exist more predominately and common around all parts of the world. How else would different and unconnected cultures come up with the same stories and legends? Maybe during Medieval times many were slayed; just like the near-extinction of the Buffalo during American expansion. I believe that in remote jungles, caves, mountains, etc., there may still be living species--- but they are wise enough to avoid contact with humans. Hopefully, one day cryptozoologists will actually obtain proof of the species.

yes dragons did exist. if you believe in the evolutionary concept of survival of the fittest then most died as they could not adapt to the changing climate. According to the National Geographic series dragons were hunted to extinction or were wiped out in a huge flood probabaly refering to the flood in Noah's time.
