This is a loaded question, as so many topics can be touched on here. Obviously there is doubt raised in the effectiveness and integrity of our legal system, specifically the judicial branch of the government. Most experts agree that the prosecution botched this case with several bad decisions on what to present as evidence, and what to address in the courtroom. In addition is the criticism that famous and/or wealthy people have an advantage with regards to defense.
Regardless of these claims, one important facet of our legal system was upheld by this case. That is the notion that it is better that 100 guilty men go free than 1 innocent man go to prison. This is the reason for our 'due process" laws, innocent until prooven guilty and beyond a reasonable doubt. The prosecution in this case failed to convince the jury, and so the verdict came back not guilty, and rightly so. Most of us agree that he got away with murder, but the blaring question is, was it his money and fame that bought him a superior defense and led to this verdict?

Our society could have learned so much from that verdict and trial. The biggest significant fact that came from that verdict was the fact that you can Buy a verdict.

It let the world know that Johnnie Cochran was one of the best defense attorneys ever.
Also the jury wanted to "make a statement" about the racist and corrupt practices of the L.A. police who are notorious for planting "fake evidence" and sending innocent people to prison. I don't think the jury necessarily believed in O.J.'s innocence of any involvement with the murders, but they were fed up with the police getting away literally with murder themselves.

It goes to prove that as long as you have money and connections, you can literally get away with murder. You watch, Mike tyson will get away with his recent drug charges. Mike Jackson, Robert Blake, Charles Foley, The Enron crew----All got away scot-free or very nearly so for crimes that would have sent us regular folks away for years. This whole government needs to be torn down and rebuilt. As it is now, it is `OF THE RICH, BY THE RICH, AND FOR THE RICH.`
