Belleville Rendez-Vous is the movie which they were inspired by.
Inspired by Benoit Charest's Oscar-nominated soundtrack for the animated film Belleville Rendez-Vous, they began re-arranging 1940s classics such as 'Mr Sandman' and 'The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy' as tight three-part harmonies. It appeared on their debut album Betcha Bottom Dollar.
I think the original Mr. Sandman by the Chordettes was used in the Back To The Future movies and Halloween 2 Soundtrack. It couldn't have been the Puppini Sisters version of the songs, because these movies and their accompanying music soundtracks came out well before they were recording artists. I
think the original Mr. Sandman version was used in the movies

Back to the Future part 1 had Mr Sandman playing when Marti first went back to 1955. Not sure if it was this version though.
